Receives ASEANTA Awards for Best ASEAN Travel.

East Asia, joined to celebrate Thai Airways International
Public Company Limited receiving an award at the “20th
ASEANTA Awards for Excellence 2006” under the category
the “Best ASEAN Travel Article” for the article
entitled “A Fragile Force” that appeared in
Sawasdee in-flight magazine’s July 2005. The ASEANTA
Award was received recently in the Philippines.
The ASEANTA Awards is a travel and tourism award granted
to organizations in the ASEAN region consisting of 10 countries,
organized by the Asean Tourism Association (ASEANTA). This
year 2006 was the 20th time that the ASEANTA Awards Ceremony
has been organized, which was held in Davao City, the Philippines,
in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of ASEAN Tourism
Forum 2006. The Awards Ceremony host country is rotated
on an annual basis. Thai Airways International is the only
awarded organization from Thailand and is one of three organizations
that received an Award for Excellence, in addition to the
Malaysian Tourism Authority and Mandarin Oriental. The “Best
ASEAN Travel Article” category is only one out of
another 6 categories, whereby no other organization received
an Award of Excellence.
